Dil Dhadakne Do Movie Review

Dil Dhadakne Do Movie Review - DDD sinks due to lack of story!

When you raise people's expectations from your previous works like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and have such a stellar cast, It becomes highly disappointing for your viewers if you give them a movie that's not worth it! With the likes of Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Shefali Shah and Zoya Akhtar not being able to save this sinking ship, it would not be wrong to say that a multi-starrer is no longer the success formula!

A self-obsessed businessman Kamal Mehra (Anil Kapoor) is having a low time in his business and is carrying a pretentious relationship with his ever-sarcastic wife Neelam (Shefali Shah). The only thing that can save them is to marry their carefree son Kabir (Ranveer) to the only daughter of Richie-rich Lalit Sood and therefore they decide on a match-making plan to go on a cruise with their family and friends. What happens next when her daughter Ayesha (Priyanka) finds her ex on the cruise and Kabir falls in love with a dancer on the ship Farah (Anushka) is the rest of the story.

Dil Dhadakne Do has its moments! How a dysfunctional family functions, the inside tensions and the relations which
have a bitter-sweet touch to them is shown wonderfully by Zoya. However the lack of story and dragging it roughly an hour more than what was required killed the movie.

The songs are joyful but the soundtrack is just average like the movie. It doesn't even come close to ZNMD. Some the dialogues are very witty and well-written but most of the dialogues and jokes in the movie seem lame.

Anil Kapoor delivers a stand-out performance able to save this ship from sinking. Rest of the actors are fine with their performance.  Special appreciation to Shefali Shah and Ranveer Singh for displaying their multi-talents. Farhan Akhar deserved better screen space.

If you are free this weekend and have nothing to do this weekend, go watch the movie. Otherwise, Skip it.
