Happy Ending Music Review - “Happy Ending is pleasurable”

Music: Sachin-Jigar

Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya, Priya Saraiya, Ashish Pandit

1. Mileya Mileya

Sachin-Jigar take inspiration from Pritam’s Tumhi Ho Bandhu (Cocktail) for this one and pitch Rekha Bhardwaj for a groovy number who with her mellow (though off-note at times) voice adds a layer to the breeziness by Priya Andrews and Jigar Saraiya.

2. Paaji Tussi Such A Pussycat

A part of the tune reminds me Amit Trivedi’s Lazy Lad from Ghanchakkar. The undertone is same too-of ridiculing a loser man. Both are written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and this one is even sung by him. With such playful orchestration that includes trombone, trumpet and tumbi, the composers construct it so wonderfully- the rise and fall of tempo, the distinctive sounds at places- that not a single bit goes off the mark.

Bringing earthy voice of Divya Kumar to the energetic western music is continued from the composers’ last collaboration with Kumar in Finding Fanny for Shake Your Bootiya.

3. Jaise Mere Tu

Probably, Arijit’s first song for Sachin-Jigar. The tune being so ordinarily breezy, the duo peps it up with subtle use of harmonium in interludes. Good job by Priya Saraiya too at the vocals.

4. G Phaad Ke

With minimum use of electronic and energetic Divya Kumar, G Phaad Ke is Punjabi dance number done right which very few get it these days.

5. Khamma Ghani

Sachin - Jigar seem to develop their own template for romantic tracks. This one is on the same lines of what the duo has earlier done in Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Ramiyya Vastavaiyya and recently in Akshay Kumar’s Entertainment. Except that the singer is not Atif Aslam but a flawless-but-uninspiring Papon who is backed by Smitha Jain and Vidhi Mehta.

6. Haseena Tu Kameena Main

Haseena Tu Kameena Main is as cool as Saif Ali Khan’s character in such rom-coms. With spectacular use of percussions with vocals and whistles, which could have easily gone discordant, the composers pull it off neatly, creating an ambiance that wonderfully blends with the voice of Siddharth Basru, Rahul Pandey and Shruti Pathak.

Bottomline:

The duo composers, Sachin and Jigar, had delivered their best for the duo directors Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru’s last Go Goa Gone. For their latest, they don’t deliver their best but a musically pleasurable soundtrack.
