Varun gets slapped 22 times for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are on a promotional spree for their latest release 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania'. The duo have been touring around the country and aggressively promoting the film. This is their second film together after 'Student of the Year'.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, directed by debutante director Shashank Khaitan, has already caught the attention of the audience with its entertaining promos and melodious songs. The growing popularity is because of the crackling chemistry between the lead pair, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Bollywood's hottest couple Varun and Alia gave the audience a feel of their movie by putting up some 'romantic' acts and also performed few dance steps during the film promotions.

Varun during one of the promotions had mentioned that he was slapped 22 times in the film and had felt proud about it. During the film shoot, it was like Varun was being slapped by almost everyone who appeared with him in the scene. It reached a point when Varun who couldn't take any more of those slaps had taken it up to the director asking him whether he was the hero or the villain in the film. The director had to convince him that it was the demand of the script and not an intentional one. Varun however has compensated for his slaps by slapping his co-star Alia Bhatt off-screen many times.

The film produced by Karan Johar is all set to release on 11 July.
