HSKD sadly does not find the difference though in the times DDLJ was made and today. The first half decently re-adapts the classic into today's Delhi- Kavya is feisty, Humpty street smart but in keeping with the new metro-sexual hero of today.(more)

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania does have some warm passages
Feisty Ambala girl, Kavya Pratap Singh, daughter of an automobile mechanic-turned-transporter, wants an expensive designer lehenga for her impending wedding. Brash Delhi boy, Rakesh alias Humpty Sharma, whose dad owns a small college bookstore, craves the new car that his old man has been saving up for. When the two severely cash-strapped youngsters meet, they strike an instant rapport and resort to means fair and foul to help each other out in the pursuit of happiness. Sure enough, love happens while they go about chasing their material desires. And just before it is time to part, they kiss and make out. (more)

Humpty, a grown fanboy who still weeps when watching that other movie's climax, is more like romcom-obsessive Mindy Lahiri from The Mindy Project than any of our regular leading men. His prospective Dulhaniya is a girl who, having drunk her fill of Kareena juice, pouts her way through life in a way that suggests consequences don't matter -- until, naturally, they do.It all begins, as any of us who have had to deal with a family wedding not too long ago can attest, with a lehnga. The girl wants one of those designer garments that costs as much as a hatchback, and she's decided she's going to hustle up the money for it herself. (more)

HSKD has plenty of feel-good moments
He's Sir Hump-a-lot (or at least make out-a-lot). Maybe that's why his nick is 'Humpty'. Typical Delhi ka munda, part-dilwala, part-gunda. So we have a classic 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge' in the mix. Fast-forwarded to today (18 years later). Where love is a 'Facebook' post and the generational shift allows you to 'makeout' with your gal and smoke-up with your papaji-in-law-to-be. All is cool!(more)
