Months after being caught in a legal battle over its title, Ravi Mohan's upcoming film Bro Code has undergone a name change and will now be called Bro Club. The film is directed by Karthik Yogi, known for Dikkiloona and Vadakkupatti Ramasamy, and is backed by Ravi Mohan's own production house Ravi Mohan Studios.
In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Ravi Mohan revealed the new title for the first time, hinting that the change was made to avoid further complications. He said he does not like problems, to which Yogi Babu jokingly interjected that since all the characters form a club, the title was finalised accordingly. Ravi Mohan further shared that the film has completed two schedules, with two more remaining, including shoots planned at a few foreign locations. He added that the film is progressing well and that this marks the first time he and SJ Suryah are sharing screen space, describing SJ Suryah as a man with a golden heart and a fun person to work with.
The film had earlier faced a long legal battle over a trademark dispute with an alcoholic beverage brand of the same name, with conflicting rulings from the Madras High Court and the Delhi High Court before the matter was settled.
Announced in August last year, Bro Club marks Ravi Mohan's debut as a producer. Besides Ravi Mohan and SJ Suryah, the film also stars noted Malayalam actor Arjun Ashokan, who makes his Tamil debut with this project. The film has three female leads in Shraddha Srinath, Sri Gouri Priya and Malavika Manoj, with the rest of the cast including Upendra Limaye and Aishwarya Raj.
The first promo, released around the time of the announcement, hinted at a story of three men bonding over their shared unhappiness in their respective relationships.
The technical crew of Bro Club includes composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar of Animal and Arjun Reddy fame, cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji known for Por Thozhil, and editor Pradeep E Ragav. Costume designer Ruchi Munoth, art director Rajesh A and stunt choreographer Mahesh Mathew round off the crew.
