A day after the title of Karthik Subbaraj's next was revealed as Dorothy, the makers have released the teaser for the drama. With music by Ilaiyaraaja, Dorothy will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before opening in theatres on September 25.
The teaser sets the film in a period backdrop, following two friends, Karthi and Subbu, as they navigate life as troublemakers. Both are hinted to have feelings for a woman named Dorothy, played by Keerthy Suresh, with a brewing conflict between the friends teased through the visuals.
Taking to X, Keerthy Suresh shared a note describing the film as one where journeys begin long before the road, where certain calls can never be undone, and where bonds are tested by a world determined to tear them apart. She added that Dorothy is not just a story of friendship, but of everything that stands in its way.
Moviecrow Take: The first thing that stands out in the teaser is how the sound design and music elevate the visuals uniquely. It is, after all, a Karthik Subbaraj film, and trends may come and go, but Karthik never settles without bringing something distinct to every project he takes up.
Karthik Subbaraj is producing Dorothy under his banner Dhammam Films. Guneet Monga and Aachin Jain are producing under the Sikhya Entertainment banner, while Jyoti Deshpande is producing under the Jio Studios banner.
The crew of Dorothy includes cinematographer S Thirunavukkarrasu, editor Ganesh Siva, production designer Kumar Gangappan and stunt choreographer Dinesh Subbarayan.
