Meesaya Murukku 2 is reportedly in its final stages of production, with industry sources indicating only two more days of filming remain before the sequel wraps up. The film is currently expected to head for a September theatrical release, though an official date is yet to be announced.

Directed, written and composed by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, the sequel revisits his franchise nearly a decade after the 2017 original. The story unfolds across two timelines — the 1980s and the present day — with Adhi reportedly playing dual roles, one of them a musician challenging the conventions of Indian classical music.

The expanded cast includes Chaithra J Achar, Ketika Sharma, Ramya Ranganathan, Nassar, Aadukalam Naren and Karunaas. The film is produced by Khushbu Sundar under Avni Movies in association with Benzz Media.
