Red Giant Movies has come on board as the distributor for Idhayam Murali across Tamil Nadu, with Inban Udhayanidhi presenting the film. The Atharvaa-starrer, written, directed and produced by Aakash Baskaran, remains on track for its July 10 release despite an ongoing legal challenge.

Director Sudha Kongara has filed a plea in the Madras High Court seeking an interim stay on the film's release, as part of her dispute with Aakash Baskaran and Dawn Pictures over unpaid remuneration from their previous collaboration Parasakthi. The court's verdict on the stay plea is awaited.

Idhayam Murali is a multi-generational love story named after the 1991 Murali-starrer Idhayam, with Atharvaa playing the titular role opposite Kayadu Lohar. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Preity Mukhundhan, Natty, Thaman S and others, with music by Thaman S and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.
