Vishal has announced that filming on Magudam, his debut directorial venture, has been completed. While production was initially declared wrapped in November 2025 after a 17-day climax schedule, sources confirm the film underwent reshoots before completing production. Shoot locations included Chennai, Ooty, Rajahmundry and Kakinada. The film is set for a July release in Tamil and Telugu, where it will arrive as Makutam.
The teaser had earlier revealed Vishal in three distinct looks across different time periods, with the actor possibly playing multiple characters, one named Linga. The cast includes Anjali, Dushara Vijayan, John Vijay, Jayaprakash and others. GV Prakash Kumar composes the music, reuniting with Vishal after Mark Anthony. The crew includes cinematographers Richard M Nathan and Abinandhan Ramanujam, editor NB Srikanth and action choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan.
Ravi Arasu, who originally helmed the project, exited in October 2025 due to creative differences and is credited with the story. Magudam is backed by the late RB Choudhary's Super Good Films in its 99th production, with his sons B Suresh, RB Jeevan Choudary, Jithan Ramesh and Jiiva serving as producers.
