The makers of Suriya's Vishwanath & Sons announced on Monday that the film's first single promo will drop on June 17. Alongside the announcement, they released a short teaser video featuring music composer GV Prakash and Mamitha Baiju, hinting at the latter's debut as a singer.
The video opens with GV Prakash on a call with director Venky Atluri, telling him the singer for the first single is yet to be locked. Atluri responds by saying he is sending the right person to the studio, and Mamitha Baiju shows up at the door. GV Prakash, though hesitant at first, prepares to record the track in her voice.
The twist arrives at the end of the promo, which turns out to be a playful reference to the online trolling Mamitha faced after her singing performance at Jana Nayagan's audio launch. In the video, she firmly clarifies that she is at the studio only to dance for the song, not sing, calling it her real strength. Who the makers have actually picked to lend voice to the first single remains under wraps.
Vishwanath & Sons follows Sanjay Vishwanath (Suriya), a pistol shooter in his 40s grappling with fading agility and focus, whose life takes an unexpected turn when Maddy (Mamitha Baiju), a woman in her 20s, falls for him despite the age gap between them. The film also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar, Bhavani Sre and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Naga Vamsi produces under Sithara Entertainments, in association with Sai Soujanya's Fortune Four Cinemas. Vishwanath & Sons is set to release in theatres on August 14.
