Dhruva Natchathiram: Gautham Menon Seeks 30-Day Extension Amid Investor Dispute

PUBLISHED DATE | 15/Jun/2026

Dhruva Natchathiram, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and starring Vikram, remains in the news despite years of delay surrounding its release. The latest development comes from a report by The Hindu, which states that Gautham has filed a plea seeking an additional 30 days for the film's release.

Justice K Kumaresh Babu is set to hear this plea on June 15, Monday. On the same day, a Division Bench comprising justices K Govindarajan and P Velmurugan will rule on appeals filed earlier by investors K Premkumar and K Punniamoorthy.

These appeals challenged an April 30 order by Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, which had permitted the release of Dhruva Natchathiram by June 15. The prolonged delay stems from a financial dispute tracing back to a 2016 distribution deal between the investors and Escape Artists Motion Pictures' Madan Pandy for Gautham's film Enai Noki Paayum Thota, starring Dhanush.

A monetary disagreement over that film led to arbitral proceedings, eventually resolved through a 2018 MoU in which Madan handed over 50 per cent of his Dhruva Natchathiram rights to the investors. Madan held these rights as a partner in Kondaduvom Entertainment, alongside Gautham and Reshma Ghatala. The investors subsequently filed a lawsuit in 2023, securing an interim order that halted the film's release.
