Suriya Reveals Karuppu's Climax Song Was Added Five Months After The Film Was Completed

Suriya got emotional at Karuppu's Thanksgiving meet on Saturday, opening up about the film's unexpected scale of success, RJ Balaji's unwavering belief in the project, and a last-minute creative decision that turned out to be one of the film's biggest highlights.

Describing the reception as a blessing, Suriya said the team had hoped for success but never anticipated it at this scale, adding "There is God's hand in this film." The response, he noted, had come not just from Tamil Nadu but from across India and worldwide.

The biggest revelation of the evening was about the now-celebrated climax song. Suriya disclosed that the song was never part of the original film and was added nearly five months after the edit had been locked. The idea came from Kumar, a trusted member of his team for 28 years. Despite concerns about additional costs on a film already two years in the making, the team chose to go ahead. "We had completed the film but it still felt like something was missing," Suriya explained.

The actor also credited RJ Balaji for his confidence in the theatrical experience from day one and thanked producers Prakash and Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures for backing every creative call. He reserved special gratitude for theatre owners who reopened advance bookings and increased shows based on audience demand. "I haven't seen this kind of reaction in theatres in recent times," he said.
