Vijay Alleges Conspiracy Behind Karur Stampede, Jana Nayagan Delay

PUBLISHED DATE | 03/Apr/2026

Actor-politician Vijay has alleged that there is a “joint machination” behind both the Karur stampede at his political rally and the delay in the release of his film Jana Nayagan.

Speaking after filing his nomination from the Tiruchirappalli East constituency, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief said the stampede, which resulted in 41 casualties and several injuries, was not incidental. “I, who have come to ask justice for you, also want justice,” he said, suggesting a larger conspiracy.

Vijay also claimed that the delay in Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, is politically motivated. The film, which is expected to mark his transition away from cinema into full-time politics, is currently awaiting censor clearance.

During his address, Vijay urged voters to support TVK and its whistle symbol, positioning his party against both the ruling DMK and the BJP. He accused the DMK of making “false promises” and failing to deliver on its 2021 commitments, while also criticising both state and central governments over issues like LPG supply and governance.

As reported earlier, Vijay is set to contest from Tiruchirappalli East and Perambur constituencies in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan is expected to release in the final week of April, with reports suggesting that the producers have resolved certification-related issues with the Censor Board.
