Kaalidas 2, starring Bharath, is set to release this Friday, bringing back the cop character from the first film in a fresh murder investigation story, though not a direct sequel.

The trailer has caught attention for a subtle pop culture reference, spotted and appreciated by SJ Suryah. Taking to social media, the filmmaker-actor called the film a “very interesting thriller that keeps you hooked” and extended his wishes to the team.

He also highlighted a nod to his directorial Vaalee, starring Ajith Kumar and Simran. Sharing the trailer, SJ Suryah wrote about the “Vaalee touch,” appreciating the clever inclusion.

The reference appears in a scene where Bharath’s character investigates a murder in a theatre, with visuals from Vaalee playing as part of the narrative.Kaalidas 2 is slated to hit theatres on April 10.
