Speculation is rife that Rukmini Vasanth will play the female lead in Dhanush’s upcoming film with Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, tentatively referred to as D56. An official confirmation from the makers is still awaited.

The project was recently confirmed to be Dhanush’s 56th film after the delay of his planned collaboration with Mari Selvaraj. In recent days, multiple casting updates have been circulating online, including hints from Vijay Kumar—known for Uriyadi and Election—about joining the project.

If confirmed, D56 will mark Rukmini Vasanth’s third Tamil film, following Ace starring Vijay Sethupathi, and Madharaasi featuring Sivakarthikeyan.

The film is currently in its early stages. Director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu recently shared a black-and-white photo from a village temple, revealing that location recce has begun, hinting that the film could be a rural drama. Plot details and the full cast are yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Rukmini Vasanth is awaiting the release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, which is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on June 4.
