Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for 2016-2022 Announced

The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday officially announced the State Film Awards for the years 2016 to 2022, along with the State Television Awards for 2014 to 2022. The long-pending honours recognise excellence across films, television, and individual artistic achievements.

Prominent actors including Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, Suriya, Arya, Vikram Prabhu, Karthi, and R Parthiban were named Best Actors for their respective years, while Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Jyothika, Aparna Balamurali, Lijomol Jose, and Sai Pallavi won Best Actress honours.

The award ceremony will be held on February 13 at 4:30 PM at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, where the Deputy Chief Minister will present the awards to the winners.

  • Best Film (1st Prize): Maanagaram

  • Best Film (2nd Prize): Puriyatha Puthir

  • Best Film (3rd Prize): Maaveeran Kittu

  • Best Film (Special Prize): Manusangada

  • Best Film – Women Empowerment (Special): Aruvi

  • Best Actor: Vijay Sethupathi (Puriyatha Puthir)

  • Best Actress: Keerthy Suresh (Paambu Sattai)

  • Best Actor (Special): Guru Somasundaram (Joker)

  • Best Actress (Special): Aditi Balan (Aruvi)

  • Best Director: Lokesh Kanagaraj (Maanagaram)

  • Best Music Director: Sam CS (Puriyatha Puthir)


Winners – 2017

  • Best Film (1st Prize): Aramm

  • Best Film (2nd Prize): Vikram Vedha

  • Best Film (3rd Prize): Taramani

  • Best Actor: Karthi (Theeran Adhigaram Ondru)

  • Best Actress: Nayanthara (Aramm)

  • Best Director: Pushkar–Gayathri (Vikram Vedha)

  • Best Film (1st Prize): Pariyerum Perumal

  • Best Film (2nd Prize): Kadaikutty Singam

Television Awards

Popular TV serials including Azhagi, Ramanujar, Nandhini, Sembaruthi, Ethir Neechal, and Poove Poochudava won 1st Prize across different years.

Actors Radikaa Sarathkumar, Vani Bhojan, Neelima Rani, Revathi, Reshma, Shabana Shajahan, and others were honoured with Best Actress (TV) awards.
