Meiyazhagan starring Karthi, Arvind Swami, Sri Divya among others is a slice of life Tamil drama that released in theaters on September 27, 2024. Written and directed by C Prem Kumar, and produced by Suriya-Jyotika's 2D Entertainment, Meiyazhagan has Govind Vasantha for music and Think Music India as the official audio label. 

A sneak peek video from Meiyazhagan featuring the lead actors was unveiled on Sunday on Think Music's YouTube channel. Prior to this another Meiyazhagan sneak peek was unveiled featuring the lead stars Karthi and Arvind Swami.

Meiyazhagan revolves around a 40+ Arulmozhi Varman (Arvind Swami) who is returning after 22 years to his hometown, a place he was forced to leave with bitter memories. While attending his cousin's wedding, Arulmozhi Varman encounters a good natured relative (Karthi), whose name or identity Arul cannot seem to recall.

This troupe of Meiyazhagan has been likened to Satyajit Ray's Bengali film Agnatuk (1991) by viewers.  Agnatuk (The Stranger) was Ray's last directorial feature, and he had based the movie on one of his own short stories, Atithi. C. Prem Kumar's Meiyazhagan was also originally written as a book and later made into a film.
