Shankar directed blockbuster vigilante action Indian (1996) starring Kamal Haasan in the lead, got a sequel titled Indian 2 (2024), which released in theaters on July 12 (Friday). Three well known filmmakers from the Tamil film industry namely directors Lokesh Kanagaraj, Karthik Subbaraj, and Arivazhagan took to X to post their Indian 2 reviews on Saturday i.e. July 13. 

Close to midnight, director Shankar responded to these celebrity Indian 2 reviews, and he thanked the filmmakers in question on X.

Indian 2 is a production venture of Lyca Productions, Red Giant Movies and comes with a runtime of 3 hours. The movie is set 28 years after the incidents of Indian, where Senapathy the ageing freedom fighter turned anti-corruption vigilante, has left the country. Indian 2 sees the return of Senapathy to a 2024 India where he not only has to tackle corruption at a larger scale, but a social-media reliant fickle public too.
