TFPC to hold back new films to regulate actor expenses, director punctuality!

Kollywood also known as the Tamil film industry woke up to the news of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), planning to put a full stop on new film announcements, and shootings hereon. The TFPC is in the works of regulating movie productions, and are in the process of convening for a meeting later this week, where it will be decided that no new Tamil film projects will be announced, or will go on floors for shooting, till the whole production process is streamlined.

The Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council is noting this move as 'not a strike or a protest', but a move to 'restructure' an actor's extra expenses [The TFPC acknowledges that a reduction in actors' salaries is an unfair ask], and a director's budgetary over-shoot and punctuality issues. There will be no restrictions however on movies that are ongoing, or have already been announced so far.

Some Tamil film productions have made it a point to announce that they have started filming, just so they aren't restricted due to this update. While the TFPC is within its jurisdiction to make this call, the possibility of implementing it lies in the fact that the body controls Film Employees Federation of South India aka the FEFSI, the members of which make or break a movie's day-to-day filming.
