The audio launch of Captain Miller, actor Dhanush's upcoming period action adventure was held on December 3, 2024 [Wednesday] at Nehru indoor stadium, Chennai. While the event is yet to be officially telecast, those in attendance last evening have posted highlights from this pre-release event of Captain Miller's on social media.

A round up of some of these highlights, which gives a glimpse into what the cast and crew had to say about the movie, follows. This includes team Captain Miller paying video homage to the recently deceased 'Captain' Vijayakanth, and the late Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar, brother of Captain Miller actor Shivarajkumar. 

Thiyagarajan- Sathya Jyothi Films: "Just like 'Viswasam (2019)' was a Pongal hit, 'Captain Miller' too will become a big hit."

Priyanka Mohan (Captain Miller female lead):

"There is a touch of Ilaiyaraaja when Dhanush sings..I like his 'Megham Karukatha' song (from 2022 movie 'Thiruchitrambalam') very much..if I have to choose one film chance of working with either Dhanush or Selvaraghavan as director, I will work in a film that both of them direct..I have done an action film with Dhanush ('Captain Miller'), so I will choose a love film.

I like watching period films so I'm happy to be a part of it. I didn't know how to hold a gun at all. Thank you so much to the team for training me...I'm a huge fan of Dhanush sir, I was really awestruck by his performance." 

Sundeep Kishan (Actor):

"I'm a huge fan of Dhanush sir and Shivanna (Shivarajkumar) is my inspiration."

Nivedhitha Sathish (Actor): "All my three wishes were fulfilled in 'Captain Miller'..Working in an action film, a period film, and acting with Dhanush sir" 

Edward Sonnenblick (American Actor, Captain Miller Villain): "I have become a huge Dhanush sir fan...Thalaivaa"

T. Ramalingam (Art Director): "The most challenging thing was to bring in the temple structures. They will be unique unlike what you've seen in other movies..around 1200+ guns have been used (in the movie)...I have worked with Dhanush in 'Karnan (2021)' too. There is a song 'Kandaa Vara Sollunga' in that movie for which I had to draw a portrait of Dhanush on a wall. While creating it, my mind kept going to Rajini sir (Rajinikanth)..the portrait that you see in the movie was made with Rajini Sir in mind..In my lifetime, I've only been a fan of 'Superstar' Rajinikanth. When I thought about who I should be a fan of in this generation, only Dhanush came to my mind. Since I like Dhanush's acting very much, after Rajini I turned into a Dhanush fan... After Rajinikanth, for sure it is Dhanush..Only he has such (an equivalent) craze.."  

Dhilip Subbarayan (Stunt Director): "In 'Captain Miller', we have tried (to give) 90% live fight (sequences)." 

Director Mari Selvraraj (Guest): "I'm working towards making a bigger film than 'Karnan (2021)' with Dhanush next...For 'Captain Miller', Dhilip (Subbarayan) Master has given 100 days date (call sheet), then imagine how much of an action movie it will be...When (Tirunelveli/) Tuticorin was hit with floods*, the first person to call me and encourage was Dhanush Sir... " 

* The filmmaker had embarked on rescue mission in his native regions, when the Southern part of Tamil Nadu was inundated due to unprecedented rain mid December, 2023. 

Lyricist Vivek: "Dhanush is a legend who lives in the same era as me...We have seen people earning name with script paper, but Shivarajkumar sir earned name with just tissue paper itself (referring to Shivanna's climax scene in the 2023 blockbuster 'Jailer')" 

GV Prakash Kumar (Music Composer):

"There is a BGM work that has been worked on intensely in the film's ('Captain Miller's') interval block..Miller is a subtle performance that Dhanush has done intensely..There is an important scene where he feels guilt and he has done it so beautifully.."

Arun Matheswaran (Director, Writer):

"Dhanush said yes to 'Captain Miller' even before my first film was released, thank you sir for the trust. I had written a film called 'Devdas' in 2011 for Dhanush..but couldn't meet him..Then I tried approaching him for 'Rocky (2021)', it didn't happen..Now I'm finally doing 'Captain Miller' with him..I narrated the story (of 'Captain Miller') to Shivanna, he liked it very much and said he's a big fan of Dhanush and is doing the movie for him. 

In all the films I've made, 'Captain Miller' has the least violence. When I asked (sunt master) Dhilip for more, he said that this was not an A certificate film but (was aiming to be) an U/A certified movie...We gave a gun in Priyanka Mohan's hand the very first day of her shoot. Within the first few days, she was roaming as if she got stuck with a psycho (referring to himself), then she got used to it."  

Shivarajkumar (Actor - Kannada Film Industry): 

"I told them that I'd do the movie ('Captain Miller') for Dhanush, even if they didn't narrate the story to me. I love him from his first film.I see him in me.. He is one of the finest actors in the world...Actually, I had wanted to remake 'Asuran' (2019 social drama for which Dhanush won a Best Actor National award)..Thank you (to the Tamil audience) for the 'Jailer' response." 

Dhanush (Lead Actor - Captain Miller)

"They say little drops (turn into a) big flood [Dhanush used a Tamil phrase equivalent of 'little drops of water make a mighty ocean']. The small droplets that I have gathered since 2002 have come as a big crowd (in the audience) today..When I think about 'Captain Miller', the first thing that comes to mind is hard-word, there is a monstrous amount of hardwork that has gone into this film. 

'You believe the devil..I am the devil'..The owner of such an animalistic hardwork is (director) Arun..He reminds me of (director) Vetrimaaran (under whom Dhanush has won two Best Actor National awards)..When I first saw Arun, I thought 'this brother?' and only then listened to the (one) line (narration)..He narrated for 15 minutes..I asked him if he'd be able to do it since the scale is big..For everything, the answer was yes..I have seen the film ('Captain Miller') now. It was exactly as he narrated it to me. I realized he is an asset that does big things/incidents..Last 30 minutes of 'Captain Miller' (releasing January 12, 2024) will be like that..

For 'Polladhavan (2007)', we had gone to a music director and narrated the story. He suggested many changes after listening..When we came out from the meeting, (director) Vetri (maaran) said he wasn't interested in making the changes to the script. So I suggested we change the music director, and that is how GV (Prakash) came in. We called GV Prakash because we had listened to his 'Uruguthey Maruguthey' song (a hit number from GV Prakash's 2006 debut 'Veyil').

Shivarajkumar Sir, when you walked in that climax scene of 'Jailer (2023)', you walked into the hearts of Tamil Nadu people...I see your father (the late Kannada star Rajkumar) and your younger brother (late Kannada star-actor Puneeth Rajkumar) in your smile...One should learn how to maintain father's legacy from you Rajkumar Sir. My sons (Yathra and Linga) are here today. I believe they too will learn. 

Whatever we speak, we have to exercise caution. Whatever we do, we have to think twice...There is a crowd that keeps poking fault at everything..I know what my priorities are, that is enough. Your love only is everything for me. Everyone please travel back safely to your home. 'Thy thoughts, thy life'. Your thoughts only will reflect your life.

'Vada Chennai 2' (sequel to his 2018 hit 'Vada Chennai', also directed by Vetrimaaran) will surely come..There is a time for that..When so many of you have been asking for it, how will it not come?..It'll surely come..We'll talk about it then..
