Kollywood director Atlee makes his Bollywood debut with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan which releases in theaters worldwide tomorrow i.e. September 7, 2023. Most of the cast and crew that has worked on Jawan are from the Tamil film industry and hence there is a certain amount of buzz for the Hindi movie down South as well. For almost a year now, fans believed Tamil star Vijay will be making a cameo in the movie, which was triggered by a photo director Atlee shared on his X page [back then it was called Twitter].

However a day ahead of Jawan's release, Atlee has officially put a full stop to such expectations. Talking to DT Next in an exclusive interview, Atlee has said, "Vijay sir does not play a cameo in the film. If that was the case, I would have announced it myself. I would maybe plan for a movie that will have both these actors in lead roles. In fact, I have played a cameo in Jawan."

It is worth mentioning here that it wasn't just the one click that made Tamil fans anticipate a Vijay cameo. Director Atlee's constant mention of Vijay during the Jawan audio launch, despite the star actor having nothing to do with the film, was mistaken as a hint for Vijay's cameo.
