Tamil cine industry has seen many different ways a film's success is celebrated, but producers of a movie making a donation out of the profits earned may be a first, at least in the public eye. Rajinikanth starrer Jailer which released in theaters on August 10, 2023 has gone on to run for 25+ successful days in theater screens, and has collected a whopping Rs. 600 Cr+ at the box-office worldwide.
Besides sharing the revenue with the backbones of the film like lead star Rajinikanth, writer, director Nelson Dilipkumar and music composer Anirudh Ravichander, Sun Pictures has also made a generous donation of Rs. 1 Cr. towards the heart surgery of 100 underprivileged children.
Sun TV Network's head honcho Kalanithi Maran who is also the producer of Jailer seems to have written a cheque for the cause to the famous Apollo Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The cheque was handed over to Dr. Prathap Reddy, Chairman of Apollo hospital by Kalanithi Maran's wife Mrs. Kavery Kalanithi.
On behalf of Sun Pictures, Mrs. Kavery Kalanithi handed over a cheque for Rs.1 Crore to Dr. Prathap Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals, towards heart surgery for 100 under privileged children.
