Director Mani Ratnam is the first Kollywood filmmaker to successfully adapt Kalki Krishnamurthy's Ponniyin Selvan story into movies, and Ponniyin Selvan 2, the sequel to Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is all set to release in theaters from April 28, 2023. The multi-starrer which is lead by Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha and Karthi will have its first show screened at 1: 30 AM IST on April 28, which is infact the film's USA premiere.

In India, the movie will have a uniform first show at 7: 30 AM IST on April 28. However the advance bookings for PS-2 are currently open only from 9:00 AM shows across India. A production venture of Lyca Productions, Madras Talkies, Ponniyin Selvan 2 has AR Rahman for music and comes with a runtime of 164.49 minutes.
