Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday starrer Liger is a sports film on boxing, the Telugu version of which released in theaters today. The movie which also stars Charmee Kaur, Ramya Krishnan among others was primarily targeted at Telugu, Hindi audience but the Hindi version comes out only tomorrow i.e. August 26, 2022. Apart from Tollywood director Puri Jagannath's abysmal comeback, the Telugu and other South audience have also found Ananya Panday's character to be the weakest link of Liger.
Some of the Liger reviews online:
Of late, I have been trying to be as diplomatic as possible while communicating my disappointment in a film because of the sheer hardwork that is poured in. But films like #Liger are harsh reminders that not all end products deserve your respect. Pathetic film. Utter crap.— Ram Venkat Srikar (@RamVenkatSrikar) August 25, 2022
#Liger A movie that had potential to be decent is wasted by senseless writing and cringe worthy scenes!— Venky Reviews (@venkyreviews) August 24, 2022
VD tried his best and body transformation is great but his stammering is annoying. Heroine track is awful. Other than a few moments, Nothing else to mention.
Dear @purijagan - stop being lazy, crores getting invested as people trust you.— Prashanth Rangaswamy (@itisprashanth) August 25, 2022
Next time - get a bound script ready and then go to shoot. You should actually refund us the ticket cost for this torture of a movie ! #Liger
Normally #KaranJohar does show his film to Samosa critics before few days. But he is not showing #Liger to press also. He is giving free tickets to critics to watch film with public on Thursday evening only. Means he knows that it’s a crap.👏😁— Kamal Rashid Kumar (@kamaalrkhan) August 24, 2022
#liger is definitely a bad movie .— J (@jayyybigwin) August 25, 2022
But what made its a unbearable torture film for me is the acting of #AnanyaPandey .
Please avoid casting bollywood actress in telugu films 🙏🤮@Charmmeofficial @purijagan @TheDeverakonda @PuriConnects pic.twitter.com/FXmp565Rpy
#Liger - Puri is stuck in the 90s but thankfully, the audience is not! Ananya Pandey’s Telugu debut is marred by one of the silliest characters ever written for a lead! In a single phrase, Liger is Puri’s officer! Vijay will have to wait for his pan india stardom!— Varun Kilaru (@varunkilaru) August 25, 2022

While North is running after Telugu cinema, our men are unnecessarily focusing on Bollywood audiences mindset— Daily Culture (@DailyCultureYT) August 25, 2022
Saaho, Radhe Shyam and Liger. All films try desperately to impress North#Liger’s vibe is such that we’re watching a Telugu remake of a Hindi film. This needs to stop
Looks like #Liger is a conspiracy by Karan Johar to downgrade Telugu movies in Hindi belt— Chakradhar Nallan (@chakradharnch) August 25, 2022

Meanwhile Hindi market theater owners seem to be miffed with Vijay Deverakonda for rubbing the 'Boycott Bollywood' gang the wrong way. They are disappointed over Liger advance bookings getting affected in the Hindi belt, because Vijay Deverakonda voice his take on the boycott trend that has been ongoing over 2 years.
"With Liger we expected a bit of drama...but we'll fight. We've put our heart into making this film. And I believe that I am correct. I feel that there is no room for fear..We have mother's blessings, people's love, God's support, a fire inside us, we will see who will stop us" - Vijay Deverakonda's statement on the Boycott trend
One theater owner went as far as releasing a video reasoning that that when established Bollywood names like Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Taapsee Pannu got short-handed at the box-office by opting to speak on the 'boycott trend', Vijay Deverakonda with his first PAN-Indian film should have practiced more wisdom while promoting it.
