It has been known for a while that big budget movies scheduled as Pongal, 2022 releases this month had to postpone its plans, owing to rising Omicron COVID-19 cases and yellow alerts in several parts of India. After S.S. Rajamouli's RRR officially withdrew from releasing on January 7, 2022, Prabhas, Pooja Hegde starrer Radhe Shyam are now backing out from their scheduled January 14, 2022 release.

Word has it that the makers are planning to bring out Radhe Shyam in theaters on March 18, 2022 next, given the curve flattens by then. Currently movie theaters are working at 50% occupancy in some parts of the country, while in others they are operating with night, weekend curfews in place.

Along with Radhe Shyam, Ajith's Valimai is another Pongal movie that is awaiting official announcement on release postponement at the moment.
