Silambarasan TR starrer Maanaadu is finally in theaters but till early morning show timings today, there was an inconspicuous air about the film's release. TL:DR Suresh Kamatchi, producer of Maanaadu announced last evening that the film will not be coming out, then went on to sort financial issues and had the movie, release as scheduled today.
Apparently the release issue came from the film's financier Uttam Chand whom Suresh Kamatchi had promised a certain amount before the release of Maanaadu. Since pre-release business of the movie failed to meet the requirements, Suresh Kamatchi was unable to pay that amount.
But after the producer's tweet last evening, several Kollywood names seemed to have stepped up to help. Financier Anbuchezhian has loaned Rs. 10 Cr. over Maanaadu's digital rights, which is expected to be sold to Sony Liv for Rs. 10.5 Cr.
Udhayanidhi Stalin helped by ensuring Kalaignar TV bought Maanaadu's satellite rights for Rs. 6 Cr. and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, Corona Kumar producer Ishari K Ganesh has helped with Rs. 3 Cr. In addition to all of this, Simbu's family has given surety of Rs. 3 Cr. to compensate for the remaining amount.
