9-part Tamil series Navarasa which premiered on Netflix on August 6, 2021 was a charity project conceived by directors Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan. The two filmmakers put together a team of directors, actors and technicians who agreed to do the project for free and earnings from the short-films were used to help film industry workers who were impacted during the COVID-19 lockdown.
