In July, 2021 talks of Udhayanidhi Stalin planning on quitting acting had surfaced. Back then, the actor-producer had just won the elections becoming an MLA and word was that he was planning on one memorable film before giving up on his film career.
The buzz of Udhay quitting cinema to focus on politics has only gotten stronger since. His last movie is said to be with director Mari Selvaraj, which also may have A.R. Rahman and Fahadh Faasil in it. Udhayanidhi himself has not made any explicit announcement of retiring from acting or moving away from the Tamil film industry. [Update: May 12, 2022 - Udhay's official statement on why he plans to quit]
He is currently part of four movies - Kannai Nambathey (Mu. Maran), Angel (KS Adhiyaman), Article 15 remake and an untitled film with Magizh Thirumeni, that are under different stages of production. His home banner Red Giant Movies continues to grab big Tamil movies for distribution.
