Critically-acclaimed Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen, which explores the insidious nature of patriarchy in everyday Indian households has been awarded the 'Equality in Cinema' prize for a feature film.

The Jeo Baby directorial won this award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) and is the only other South film to win an award this year besides Soorarai Pottru (Tamil).
