A widely known fact about actor Sivakarthikeyan is that he started his career off as a reality show contestant, became a beloved TV presenter and then ended up in the movies. Besides playing lead roles, the actor has also tried his hand at singing and producing.

However a little known fact about Sivakarthikeyan is that his movie journey started with not acting, but directing. Nelson Dhilipkumar was an assistant script writer at Star Vijay, the same channel that gave Sivakarthikeyan his shot. He was supposed to make his debut as a director in 2010, with a movie called Vettai Mannan starring Silambarasan TR in the lead. 

Vettai Mannan was shelved for reasons unknown and years later Sivakarthikeyan revealed that he played a small role in this movie, while also working as an assistant director on it. The actor eventually made his Kollywood debut with Marina in 2012.

Sivakarthikeyan also ended up working with Nelson Dhilipkumar; Their completed movie Doctor is currently awaiting release.
