On New year's day of 2019, Sathya Jyothi Films officially announced two movies with actor Dhanush - one was Pattas and the other which was supposed to be the banner's 35th production, never took off. This 35th production was announced with Mundasupaati, Ratsasan director Ram Kumar and it was touted to be an adventure fantasy titled Vaal Natchathiram.

Filming was expected to begin in June, 2021 but seems like the project has undergone a major change. Sathya Jyothi Films' movie with Dhanush will now be helmed by Balaji Mohan. This will be Dhanush's third project with the director after Maari and Maari 2 and it remains to be seen if it will be Maari 3 or a new story altogether.

Uppena actress Keerthi Shetty is said to be playing female lead in this movie.
