We had previously reported that the shooting of Annaatthe will resume in Chennai from March 15, 2021 and though the makers did not make any announcement regarding the same, grapevine was abuzz with the crew resuming filming again. However, latest reports suggest that though this was the original plan Rajinikanth decided to sit this week out.

Speculations for reasons vary between upcoming elections and the spike in COVID-19 cases this week in Tamil Nadu. It remains unclear if Annaatthe shooting did actually resume and if it did, when Rajini will be joining the team. 

Directed by Siva, Annaatthe also stars Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Meena and Khushbu among others. The film produced by Sun Pictures and is scheduled to release on Novemeber 4, 2021.
