Back in 2020, when Vishal's home production Chakra was looking at a direct OTT release, producers at Trident Arts successfully obtained a stay against the move owing to their history with Vishal and director MS Anandan. The Madras High Court had then suggested an amicable solution between the two parties but seems like that did not happen.

With Chakra now scheduled for a February 19, 2021 release in movie theaters, Trident Arts once again moved High Court and on Tuesday Justice Karthikeyan ordered an interim stay on releasing Chakra and has sought a response from Vishal and director M.S. Anandan. The next hearing for the case will be on February 22, 2021.
