Actor Mohanlal starrer Drishyam 2 was supposed to have a trailer release on February 8, 2021 but a leak forced the makers to unveil the video on February 6, 2021. Post the rushed trailer launch, Mohanlal met with the media to interact about his upcoming film which will premiere directly on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on February 19, 2021.

Reflecting on returning to play 'George Kutty', a school-drop out who has honed his master-mind skills by watching movies, Mohanal said, 

"For me, Georgekutty is a mystery. Still, I don't know what is his character, his emotions and his strength. Nobody knows about it. If you watch the whole film you can see Georgekutty is in a different trance. 

 

Portraying Georgekutty was not a challenge, but to script Drishyam 2 was very difficult and Jeethu (Joseph) has succeeded in that."

Mohanlal also acknowledged the many remakes the prequel to Drishyam 2 had inspired and said, "All the remakes are good because the storyline is so strong. So hopefully we will watch Drishyam 2 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and in Chinese also."
