Hot talk in the Tamil film industry over the past few days have been about the OTT release plans of Dhanush's upcoming movie Jagame Thandhiram. Producer Sashikanth of Y Not Studios is said to have signed a deal with Netflix for a direct OTT release, despite vowing to release his film in theaters initially.

Jagam is still healing & not back to normal 🤓 Untill then, be patient for the theatres to open & don’t believe in rumours 😎
The entire team is waiting to see @dhanushkraja go #rakitarakita on a big screen soon

Though a Netflix release date for Jagame Thandhiram has not been announced officially, the movie is expected to release this month (February, 2021) and the move is said to have left the film's lead disappointed.
Dhanush has been one of the few Tamil actors to stand in favour of supporting theater owners during this COVID-19 era and his other film Karnan was recently announced to release theatrically with a 'thank you' note to the movie's producer.

It’s great news for cinema lovers and I hope watching movies with friends and family helps to thrive the theatre culture once again. Nothing like a theatre experience. Please take all the safety precautions and watch the film in theatres.

Things are said to have soured between Sashikanth and Dhanush over Jagame Thandhiram's OTT release and reportedly the producer has unfollowed Dhanush on all social media platforms.
