It was officially announced late Thursday that Tamil actor Dhanush will be joining the cast of Netflix's Rs. 1500 Cr. ($200 million) movie The Gray Man which is directed by Avengers:Endgame directors Antony Russo and Joe Russo. 

The movie is an adaptation of a 2009 eponymous novel by Mark Greaney and is about an ex-CIA operative and freelance assassin named Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), who goes on missions around the world and is chased by fellow CIA operative Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans). 

Interestingly The Gray Man is one of those films (like Ponniyin Selvan) which has been attempted by big star names to be made into a movie before, but was never successfully brought on-screen. Netflix though plans to set up a James Bond like  action thrillerfranchise via the Russo directors who gave the OTT platform their most watched original - The Extraction starring another Avenger actor Chris Hemsworth.
