After Vidya Balan starrer The Dirty Picture, which was a 2011 film based on the life of yesteryear South siren Silk Smitha, Kollywood was gearing up for its own version of a biopic on the late actress. Titled Aval Appadithan, the movie will be directed by KS Manikandan of Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya fame and now it has been revealed that shooting is planned to begin from November, 2020. 

The team has not yet decided on who will be playing Silk Smitha, who was born Vijayalakshmi Vadlapatla and was one of the most sought after glamour-actresses in the 80s and and early 90s. The film will be produced by Gayathri Films’ Chithra Lakshmanan and Murali Cine Arts' H. Murali.
