Recently, Periyarist group Karuppar Koottam invited the wrath of many in Tamil Nadu after they released a derogatory video aimed at Hindu Gods especially Lord Murugan and the Tamil prayer sung in his praise, the Kandha Sashti Kavasam. 

The aftermath of the incident involved BJP blaming 'Dravidism' for this act of public insult, a police complaint being lodged seeking to block the YouTube channel and the Central Crime Branch probing the issue with the arrest of the YouTube channel's associates Senthilvasan and Surendran (the latter surrendered himself at a police station in Puducherry).

Several Kollywood names had condemned the people involved in creating the video and now actor Rajinikanth has come out thanking the Tamil Nadu government for their 'swift action' in the matter. With a declaration of "All religion is one", the Superstar actor sent out this following statement on twitter:

"I would like to thank the Tamil Nadu government for taking down the video that spewed venom on Kandha Shasti Kavasam and for arresting people behind the channel who hurt millions of Tamils with their unforgettable video.
