It has only been a week since Dulquer Salmaan's Malayalam comedy-drama Varane Ayashyamund hit OTT platforms Sun Nxt and Netflix and the actor-producer has already apologized twice for depictions in his movie. First it was a girl named Chetna Kapoor who called out the makers for using her photo without her consent in the movie, to which Dulquer and his director Anoop Sathyan issued immediate apologies and had the matter resolved without legal consequences.
We take full responsibility for the error on our behalf. Will look into it with concerned departments of the film to understand how the images were sourced. I apologise from my end and from the film as well as @DQsWayfarerFilm for any difficulties caused. It wasnt intentional.

Now, a certain section of Tamils seem to have taken offense to the use of the name 'Prabhakar' in the movie for a dog citing that it references the name of the Tamil Eelam leader. Once again Dulquer and his director issued immediate apologies but the matter has not subsided as one would have hoped.
We tamils have huge respect on your father and malayalam film industry, don't spoil that by single movie.. We need you to apologize for what you have done...@dulQuer#TamilLeaderPrabhakaran #PrabhakaranIsTamilsIdentity pic.twitter.com/TNh4m4jO3U

The sequence is a direct reference from the Malayalam film 'PattanaPravesham'. A hilarious scene, which is a common Meme/Sticker/Troll.

"It got NO reference to the LTTE leader Prabhakaran".
I apologise to all of those who got hurt because of the misleading posts. https://t.co/TMleWgekvU
The offended section has not only demanded removal of the said scene from Varane Avashyamund but have also pointed that this degrading Tamils has 'become a habit with Mammootty and his son'. However, another section of the Tamil film fraternity has come to Dulquer's defense saying that is not the case.
thankyou for clarifying DQ! as a tamilian myself I thought it was a beautiful film. Even showed Chennai beautiful. Only felt there was generalisation and stereotyping of certain tamil characters. But no body deserves hate for making a feel good film like this.

Your Dad intentionally hurted Tamils by using Prabhakaran Tambi, where tambi is our leader's petname,

You can't escape by just showing old reference,
Remove the scene from this movie #VaraneAvashyamund
And admit that you will not hurt Tamils further.#PrabhakaranisTamilsIdentity pic.twitter.com/iI5AbrRafg
This is not the first time Malayalam Cinema has insulted Tamils.

Knowing him for a considerably decent amount of time I can vouch that @dulQuer has always had the highest regards for us and feels belonged in Chennai .We are cooler than this and can take things with a pinch of salt . Pl stop spreading unwanted hatred . https://t.co/REMm7VanBO
