Karunas demands ban on Dhanush's Karnan & Maari Selvaraj behind bars!

Actor Karunas' political party Tamil Nadu Mukkulathor Pulipadai has made a shocking demand of a ban on Dhanush's upcoming film Karnan which they believe is based on a caste riot that happened in Kodiyankulam in the early 90s. They demand that the shooting of the movie which is currently happening in and around Tirunelveli be put to a halt and the director Maari Selvaraj behind bars.

According to a statement from this political outfit, Maari Selvaraj's film is likely to cause caste conflict in the now peaceful areas, and given that the director addressed Dalit oppression in his last film, it seems like the party is protecting interests of its own caste group who infamously clashed with the Dalits in the said Kodiyankulam incident.

They have also stated that Dhanush's character in the movie attacks a police station [as seen in the twitter video above] and that action is against maintaining law and order. It is worth mentioning here that this is the second time Karunas' party has objected to their caste reference in a Dhanush film; previously they had asked for the removal of the term 'Aanda Parambarai' from Asuran which the team eventually gave in to.
