A.C. Mugil directed Pon Manickavel which had wrapped shooting earlier this year, has now confirmed its release time to be Pongal, 2020. The movie is Prabhu Deva's first as a police officer and it will be meeting Siva's Sumo and Rajinikanth's Darbar at the box-office [Darbar may release a bit earlier].

Touted to be an action entertainer, Pon Manickavel is based on a real Inspector General, who made headlines as the chief of the Idol wing in Tamil Nadu.

Also starring Nivetha Pethuraj, Suresh Menon and J. Mahendran among others, Pon Manickavel has Imman for music and is produced by Jhabak Movies.
