Mission Mangal Day 1 Box Office: Akshay Kumar's highest opening film ever

Mission Mangal one of the hugely awaited films in Bollywood hit the screens on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day. The film starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and Nithya Menen is based on India's Mangalyaan mission and has received mostly positive reviews

 

Akshay Kumar is the king of Independence Day weekend and he has proved it once again with Mission Mangal box office collection.  The film had a fantastic first day at the box office and has raked in Rs. 29.16 cr. Mission Mangal marks Akshay Kumar's biggest opening film ever pushing Gold which minted Rs. 25.25 cr last year to the second position.

 

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office figure of the film on his Twitter handle and wrote, "#MissionMangal takes a fantabulous start... #IndependenceDay holiday gives biz an additional boost... Multiplexes outstanding, mass circuits good... Emerges Akshay Kumar's biggest opener... Thu 29.16 cr. India biz."

 

Akshay Kumar who has had most releases on the occasion of Independence Day has yet again proved he is a box office 'Khiladi' with his latest outing Mission Mangal. The Independece day holiday has helped boost the film’s collection to a great extent. The film is expected to perform even better during the weekend. According to trade pundits, the film is likely to cross Rs. 200 cr mark by the end of its theatrical run. Directed by Jagan Shakthi, Mission Mangal clashed with John Abraham's Batla House at the ticket window. However, the film failed to beat Mission Mangal in terms of collections.
