The trailer of Top Gun: Maverick, a direct sequel to Tom Cruise's 1986 super-hit film Top Gun was released recently and Cruise makes a return as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, now a flight instructor at the Topgun, a Navy’s Fighter Weapons School at Miramar. Though not much is revealed in the video except that Pete is still a 'Captain' instead of an admiral, it does come with references to its 34 year old prequel like the 'maverick' riding motorcycle, playing volleyball among other things.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Top: Gun Maverick is said to be literally set 34 years later and will see Cruise teaching the son of his late partner, Nick “Goose” Bradshaw. The film also stars Val Kilmer, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris and Miles Teller among others and is set for a release on June 26th, 2020.
