Sarkar is one of the most awaited films in Kollywood which is gearing up for Diwali release. While Sarkar is in post-production stage, the business of the movie is already red hot in the trade. The Karnataka theatrical rights of the film has been acquired by renowned film distribution house Sri Gokul Films for a record price of Rs. 8 cr. They have earlier distributed Tamil films like Kabali, Vedalam and I movie.
This is the highest ever theatrical right amount for a Vijay film in Karnataka. His earlier release Mersal was sold for Rs. 5.5 cr. Sarkar pre-release sales is the second highest in Karantaka after Rajinkanth starrer Kabali. The overseas rights of Sarkar has been sold for Rs. 25 cr on par with Mersal which was also sold for the same price.
Sarkar starring Vijay and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles is directed by AR Muruguadoss. The political drama bankrolled by Sun Pictures has music by AR Rahman.
