Kangana Ranaut steps in as director of ManiKarnika

Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is one of the hugely anticipated films in Bollywood which is set to hit the screens for Republic day next year (January 25, 2019). The film shoot is complete except for some patchwork shoot. Kangana Ranaut has donned the director's hat to complete pending patchwork shots.

Manikarnika director Krish Jagarlamudi is currently busy with the shoot of Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer NTR Biopic which also features Vidya Balan in a pivotal role. The makers of NTR Biopic are planning to release the film for Sankaranti next year (January 2019). Since Krish is occupied with NTR Biopic he is unable to allot dates for completing the pending pactwork shots of ManiKarnika.

As Manikarnika is an important film in Kangana's career, she is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film's shoot completes on schedule and there is absolutely no delay in the film's release plan. Kangana Ranuat who plays the titular role decided to direct the film in Krish's absence but under the able guidance of the director. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Kangana speaks to Krish over the phone every day to discuss the filming. The post-production and VFX work of the film is happening in full swing.

ManiKarnika is based on the story of Rani Laxmi Bai's battle with the East India Company, which made her one of the first freedom fighters of India. Manikarnika stars TV actress Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkarbai, Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope and Sonu Sood as Sadashiv.
