Super 30 Controversy: Is Hrithik Roshan's film in trouble?

Only recently, Hrithik Roshan's upcoming movie Super 30, which is a biopic on Patna based Mathematician Anand Kumar was in the news for gearing up for a box-office competition against Kanagana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The queen of Jhansi. The personal history behind the lead stars made it a matter of media attention, though the producer of Manikarnika has stated that the clash is anything but deliberate.

Now, Hrithink and the makers of Super 30 seem to have a bigger problem at hand, for  a controversy has erupted against their real-life protagonist Anand Kumar. Anand Kumar's former Super 30 [programme started by him for training 30 under-privileged students for IIT-JEE every year] students claim that the mathematician lied that 26 out of his 30 students cleared the exams this year, whereas only 3 of them did. Anand made this claim through his Facebook update, which was even shared by Hrithik Roshan through a tweet.

The students also claimed that Anand Kumar encouraged IIT-JEE aspirants to enroll in an institute named Ramanuj classes on the pretext of an admission in Super 30, if their performance improved and made Rs. 1 crore every year in this process. Currently, a  PIL has been filed against the Bihar Mathematician for making money illegally and a CBI intervention has been requested. Also  IPS officer Abhayanand, who originally co-founded Super 30 with Anand but later had a fall-out with him, has started a petition online to urge the filmmakers to reconsider making the film post this controversy.

The programme Super 30 was established in 2002 and rose to prominence in 2008 when all 30 students made it to the renowned IIT colleges, registering a 100% success rate. It gained worldwide recognition when it was featured in the the Time Magazine in 2010.
