It has officially been 31 whole days with no movie releases in the Tamil and the theatres and audience still making-do with re-releases and other language films. This week, the movies that have occupied the theatres of Chennai include Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One, Ram Charan-Samantha starrer Rangasthalam, Tiger Shroff's Baaghi 2 and a Malayalam film called Vikadakumaran.

This Sukumar directed film of Ram Charan and Samantha is being praised for its writing and presentation. The audience seemed to have loved it too for it tops our recommendation list with an aggregate of 64% rating. The 3 hour run-timed Rangasthalam is about a partially deaf Engineer who stands up against powerful landlords to make water accessible to the people of his village.

Ready Player One (English) - Review Here

If you are looking for some 3D fun, then Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One may be the right pick this weekend [The movie is currently being screened only at SPI Cinemas owned theatres at Chennai]. Based on a popular book of the same name, the visual treat of a film which is set in 2045 (the future) has gained mixed reactions from both the critics and the audience so far. As the director puts it, Ready Payer One is your 'escape (from reality) movie.'

An adaption of the Telugu movie Kshanam, the Tiger Shroff, Disha Pathani starrer is being extensively spoken for its action element. With an aggregarate of 55% the general opinion is Baaghi 2 is a movie worth watching once.

Vikadakumaran (Malayalam) -   Movie Page Here

The audience seems to have liked this rom-com a little better than the critics, for the film has a lot of laughs to offer. Of the three Malayalam movies that released this week, Vikadakumaran featuring Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vishnu UnniKrishnan and Manasa UnniKrishnan is the only one that made it to theatres in Chennai.
