Naga Chaitanya has been roped in to play legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao in Mahanati, the much-awaited biopic of actress Savitri. Chai has agreed to be a part of this ambitious project and will be playing the role of his grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao (aka) ANR. Naga Chaitanya has reportedly given two-day call sheet for the film. He will be making a brief appearance in the film.

The film also has many other leading actors from other film industries including Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan, Keerthy Suresh as Savitri, Samantha, Prakash Raj, Vijay Devarakonda, and Mohan Babu in lead roles. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film has also been made in Tamil and has been titled 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam'.
