From its very first day, Padmaavat has been doing fantastic business in Chennai city and the whole of TN. The Tamil dubbed version added to the craze around the film. After 19 days in running, Padmaavat has emerged as the alltime highest Bollywood grosser in Chennai city with a gross of 4.54 CR, beating Dangal which grossed 4.5 CR in Chennai city in its lifetime. Dangal also had a Tamil dubbed version.

Padmaavat still has the legs to keep going for some more weeks. We have to see if it can cross the 5 CR gross mark in the city. For a film without any of the 3 big Khans to do such business in TN speaks volumes about its content. The controversies have also helped, but ultimately Padmaavat is a great film and deserves this level of success.

On the all-India front, the film is nearing the spectacular 250 CR nett mark without major markets like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan still playing the film.
