Until recently, the makers of Rajinikanth starrer Kaala had maintained that the film will release only after the superstar's mega budgeted 2.0. However, speculations surrounding 2.0's release which suggested that its release date is being pushed further from April, 2018 seems to have come true and according to current industry buzz, it will be Kaala (and not 2.0) that will be releasing at that said period.

Sources add that Kaala, directed by Pa. Ranjith is planning on hitting theatre screens by April 12, 2018 with an official confirmation on the same, yet to be made. Seems like Lyca Productions (producers of 2.0 & presenters of Kaala) is keen on utilising the Tamil New Year holiday slot and even more keen on not disappointing fans of the 'Thalaivar'.
